DISCOVERING THE 1ST ARRONDISSEMENT OF PARIS

To help you prepare for your stay, VacationServices4You has put together a selection of the best museums and monuments, the most beautiful parks and gardens, and many ideas for visits in the most beautiful capital in the world.

What to do in the 1st arrondissement ? :

The Tuileries Garden : It enjoys an exceptional location. On one side the Louvre, on the other the Place de la Concorde. If you are looking for a peaceful and quiet place, this garden is not the most appropriate.

Because of its extraordinary location, the Tuileries garden receives millions of visitors every year. Nevertheless, it remains a magnificent green space in the heart of Paris.

Place Vendôme : A place apart in Paris, where time seems to stand still. Created under the reign of Louis XIV, it has always been a great place of aristocracy and luxury.

As soon as you arrive at the Place Vendôme, you will notice the unique character of the place. More than a simple square, it is a real urban monument under the open sky… There are no roads, the ground is paved in a homogeneous way and the separation between pedestrians and cars is symbolised by discreet bollards. All around the square are superb private mansions, all of which have been recognised as historical monuments, and which were once the residences of the French nobility. Today, all these buildings are owned by luxury merchants or large hotels, such as the prestigious Ritz, which you will see at number 15.

Take the full tour and pay attention to the architectural details specific to each building, as well as the magnificent street lamps, especially at the corners of the square, where you can see two golden “L’s” intertwined and surmounted by the royal crown, monograms of Louis XIV.

The Louvre Museum : To summarise the richness of the Louvre’s collections in a few paragraphs is almost impossible. With more than 35,000 pieces displayed in an area of 60,000m², this museum is indeed one of the largest in the world… It is a real “must-see”!

The museum is divided into 3 wings, each of which houses different thematic galleries on several floors. Great French and European paintings (Flanders, Germany, Holland, Italy, …), art objects, Greek, Egyptian or Etruscan antiquities, sculptures… The collections are incomparably rich!
