DISCOVERING THE 5th ARRONDISSEMENT OF PARIS

To help you prepare for your stay, VacationServices4You has put together a selection of the best museums and monuments, the most beautiful parks and gardens, and many ideas for visits in the most beautiful capital in the world.

What to do in the 5th arrondissement? :

The Jardin des Plantes : Created in the 17th century, this is a magnificent place in the heart of Paris, which stands out from the other gardens of the capital by the extraordinary variety of plants and trees from all over the world offered free to visitors.
Located in the heart of the Museum of Natural History of Paris (which brings together various thematic museums such as the Great Gallery of Evolution, the Museum of Paleontology, the Gallery of Mineralogy, etc.), it is a magnificent ensemble for research and the dissemination of naturalist scientific culture.

The Pantheon : An architectural marvel perched on Mount Sainte Geneviève, the Pantheon is one of the most prestigious monuments in the city, and one of the most beautiful to visit.
The building was originally commissioned by King Louis XV (1755) to build a new church in honour of Sainte-Geneviève, the patron saint of Paris. The king’s hidden desire was also to compete with the Church of St Peter in Rome by creating such a sumptuous monument in the heart of the capital…

The Great Mosque of Paris : In the chic and university district of the 5th arrondissement of Paris (Latin Quarter), you can visit the Great Mosque of Paris. The largest French Muslim place of worship, inaugurated in 1926, it was built in honour of the soldiers who died for France in the First World War.
A visit to the Mosque is an ideal opportunity to admire a building of Hispano-Moorish architectural style in the heart of Paris.

Institut du Monde Arabe : The Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA) is more than a museum, it is a large cultural space in Paris dedicated to Arab civilisation, the result of a partnership between France and 22 Arab countries. While the museum presents permanent and temporary exhibitions of great quality, you will also find infrastructures dedicated to the knowledge and understanding of the Arab world, such as the large library, or the cultural events organised throughout the year (music shows, screenings, debates…).
In addition to this educational dynamism, you will be able to observe, from the terrace on the top floor, a superb panorama of Paris, in particular of Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Ile de la Cité (free access, go up to the top floor and head for the restaurant).
